We can all fall victim to a bout of procrastination from time to time. Generally putting off until later something we consider arduous, tedious or challenging. When this process of avoidance is limiting progress in a project or affecting daily life, you may want to take action. With your eye on the prize you are more likely to avoid procrastination if you employ the following:
FOCUS – Deciding what you want, and when you want it by, will improve your motivation.
PLAN – have a realistic and well timed set of actions to achieve your goals.
WORRY – spending time thinking about the possible downside or consequences will drain your energy. If you consider that only 2% of what we worry about may happen, you can decide not to waste this time. If there are real pitfalls ensure you plan for those events and move on.
FEAR – Use this heightened state of alert in a productive way. Being aware of your back up plan will help you move forward.
TRUST – Be aware of who can help you achieve your goals. Consider your own experience and draw on your strengths and skills used in the past.
DESIRE – Review your goal if you succumb to procrastination. Is it what you truly want? Formulating a strong goal and reminding yourself why you want it will strengthen your resolve. You can find help with this in my free coaching tool.

Count your Blessings
We can be overwhelmed by the kindness of strangers yet overlook the daily service and attention of those closest to us.
Constantly looking beyond our immediate environment, to the far horizon, we become blind to the wonder of our lives. A few seconds is sometimes all it takes to swell your heart. You have the power within you to enrich this, and every day.

The blues
Life has ups and downs and as humans we are fallible. When life throws a few curve balls our way we are capable of latching on to the problems and continuously going over things in our mind. This repetitive cycle does not bring answers and simply increases our focus on unhappy or unhealthy situations. Ruminating will contribute to the depressive cycle.
Breaking the cycle is essential.
Don't make the mistake of doing what your mood dictates when depressing thoughts arise.
Contact me through my web site if you have questions re unhappy thoughts

Improve your Relationships
Thought I would elaborate on my previous post with regard to the hot topic of last year which was relationships.
Now this is a small insight into a coaching approach to improve relationships and is not the be all and end all. I realise some situations are very complex and long in the making. If you have tried everything that you want to, it may be time to move on: however this may not be possible if we are talking about colleagues or family. If this person, or persons, are pretty permanent fixtures in your life right now, and for the foreseeable future, the onus is with you if you want change.
Firstly we are all guilty of merely reacting and not considering. Time to take charge of our feelings, our thoughts and words. Taking responsibility is for grown ups so if you want to stay child like or hold on to your victim status read no further.
Change is the word of the day and that means you first. Our environmental situation is affected by our thoughts, words and deeds. The second two you can probably envisage easily enough, how about your thoughts? Can what is going on in your head change what happens around you. Only one way to find out and that is to give it a go.
Consider the person with low self esteem and poor body image that muddles through the day hoping something wonderful will happen in their life. They believe it will never happen, why would it, after all they don't deserve it. Everything he or she says or does will reflect these feelings and those around will absorb this mantra like vibration. This person may miss golden opportunities because their mind is not open to them, and the fearful or negative chatter in their head will constantly steer them in the opposite direction to the very people they need in their life. A change in mind-set is the start to them achieving a full and meaningful life.
Easy for me to say! The question is what to do. What action is needed?
For starters look inside your head (metaphorically) and examine the thoughts that arise on a daily basis. On the way to work are you cursing certain people? Have you decided when the first altercation will arise? Is today the day you get in with the first insult? The universe is well aware of what you want following this pattern of thought and will deliver. Time to stop this particular train in its tracks and re-invent the wheel at the same time.
Re frame your thoughts with positive helpful words about your situation and the people around you. Make these statements future based, almost a thank you for how good thing's are. For example if Dave at work is less than sharing with computer time you may say, 'I love how Dave is always considerate with computer time giving me a heads up when its free'.
The statement is future based as change may not happen over night, its positive and grateful. It may feel odd to utter what you know to be untrue but gives your subconscious mind time to adjust to how things will be, therefore less chance of it blocking your awareness. More about the subconscious another time.
So what's it to be: ~Wish list or action plan?

Moving forward
Greetings from Cornwall
Its a beautiful day here in the south west and I am looking forward to sharing my thoughts with interested parties out there.
If you are curious about coaching you may want to know what was high on the coaching agenda for last year.
Relationships was tops and no surpirse as we negotiate the many different people in our lives. Of course the romantic element often causes a few concerns.
Some of our issues are linked to confidence and self belief - never give up on these basics.
If you have taken your eye off the self belief 'ball' then negativiity will go hand in hand with self sabotage and lead you down the road to nowhere.
Last but not least there was "not enough hours in the day" issue. Life can be very busy and then we take a closer look - is the time being used fruitfully?
It feels good to know there is a process that can help people assess what needs to be done and move in the right direction.
